Sankyo Electric Co., Ltd.’s ultraviolet (UV) flow-through sterilization system disinfects water by efficiently irradiating the flowing water inside the unit with UV C light.
The 254 nm wavelength emitted from the UV C germicidal lamp has a strong sterilizing effect and inactivates bacteria, viruses, and other microorganisms present in the water (suppressing their growth and reducing their number). It can be used for disinfecting liquids that allow UV transmission, such as drinking water, wash water, and well water. By installing the system in aquaculture facilities, fish tanks, or ornamental aquariums and circulating the water through the unit, it maintains a clean growth environment without relying on chemical agents. It is also suitable for applications where heat sterilization is difficult.
The UV flow-through sterilization unit “SY1R” significantly enhances disinfection performance by reflecting UV C light within the chamber, enabling efficient inactivation of various viruses and bacteria. Despite its compact and lightweight design (width 66 cm × depth 14 cm × height 32 cm, weight 12 kg) and wall mountable form factor, it achieves a treatment capacity of 10 m³/h, making it easy to install even in limited spaces. Since the SY1R uses no chemicals, it does not alter the taste or odor of the water, and no post treatment for residual chemicals is required. It is suitable for a wide range of applications, including hygiene control of kitchen water, treatment of process water in food factories, sanitation of brewing water, as well as agricultural and aquaculture uses.
